We're a small, fully remote team building consumer brands we actually want to keep. There aren't many seats here, and every one of them carries real weight. If you've been waiting for a job where you own the whole thing and get judged on whether it worked — hello.
The big company gives you budget and no say — you run a channel, someone else decides what it's for. The agency gives you variety and no skin in the game — lovely work for brands you never get to steer. And going out on your own gives you everything, including the bookkeeping.
We'd like to be the fourth option. A real brand that's yours to run, a house behind you when you need one, and a bar for the work that you'd happily defend to someone who knows the category better than you do.
It won't suit everyone, and we'd rather say so now than waste your afternoon. Here's the unflattering part.
Every careers page says "we're growing fast and we'd love to meet you." Here's what we'd actually want to know if we were you.
No team underneath you, no analyst to build the deck, nobody to brief at 6pm. If the appeal of seniority is having people to hand things to, you'll be miserable here.
We won't be the logo that impresses anyone at a dinner party. What you get instead is a number you genuinely moved, and the receipts to prove it was you.
There's no office to quietly absorb the ambiguity for you. It's wonderful if you write things down and finish things nobody chased you about. It's rough if you don't.
If it isn't obviously right for both of us, we won't talk ourselves into it — which sometimes means a no after several conversations we both enjoyed.
Still here? Good — that's most of the screening done.
We don't post roles we might not fill, so instead here's the shape of person we're always glad to hear from. See yourself in one of these and we should talk.
You've spent real money and you can tell a creative problem from a targeting problem without three weeks of tests. You read the P&L, not just the dashboard. And you've turned off something that looked like it was winning, because you checked what it was doing to contribution.
You've owned a catalogue and lived with its P&L. You know exactly where the margin quietly disappears — returns, paying for your own branded search, a listing ranking beautifully for the wrong intent — and you went and fixed it instead of putting it in a deck.
You can make a brand look like it costs more than it does, and explain exactly why it works. You write, or you art-direct, or you do both badly enough to be dangerous. Your favourite work sold something — it didn't just win the room.
None of those quite you? Apply anyway. We've invented a role for the right person before and we'd happily do it again.
The practical stuff, before you ask.
You'll always know where you stand, and nobody will ask you what kind of tree you'd be.
About ten minutes. We read every single one — there aren't enough of us for that to be a lie.
An hour on what you've actually owned — the thing that worked, the thing that didn't, and what you'd do differently. No brainteasers, no culture-fit quiz. We'll bring up money ourselves so you don't have to.
Yes or no, with a real reason, inside a week. No ghosting — we've both been on the wrong end of that.
We aim to get from application to answer inside two weeks. If we're going to be slower than that, we'll tell you why.
One thing you owned and can talk about properly beats a tidy CV every time. Show us the thing you're quietly proud of.
Rather just email? curt@amanakbrands.com — two honest paragraphs beat a covering letter, and we'd genuinely rather read them.
No. We're fully remote. We'll talk about overlap in the first conversation, but we haven't ruled anyone out on geography.
A bit of both, honestly. We hire a handful of people a year and we keep the good applications close to hand. If there's no seat today we'll say so plainly instead of going quiet on you.
We pay properly for the level, and we'd rather discuss it early than late — we'll raise it in the first conversation instead of making you bring it up.
Apply anyway and say exactly that — there's a box for it. We'd much rather know you exist and catch you at the right moment.
